After the threat from Sarah about being kicked out of blogland I’m here!

I haven’t been compelled to write since nothing incredibly exciting has happened to me. However, in my random internet wandering I’ve stumbled upon some awesome wedding related things. Totally unnecessary for my current relationship status but fun to look at nonetheless!

First off is once wed. It’s sort of a venture through vintage inspired and diy weddings. Seriously some of the prettiest weddings and coolest receptions ever. Although, most of that could be the product of an awesome photographer. Either way, gorgeous stuff.

And this. How can you not be excited for this couple?!

In quilt news, the top to mine is done. So far, it’s lived half of its life on the floor.. in the middle of the living room.. totally in the way of all traffic. hah.

So the quilt was completed! And just in time to be folded up and delivered to its new owner… without the time to pull off all the lint and clip off the extra thread. hah. and obviously no time for pictures. I was super happy about the way it turned out.

SO HAPPY IN FACT… that I want one for myself now :]

I’m on a search for some fabric to throw together for a quilt of my own. Something warm and inviting but also hip and stylish. I’d also prefer to get a charm pack so I could skip the entire cutting-50-million-squares-and-fretting-because-they-aren’t-all-perfect part of it. I’ve been looking at Moda’s Arcadia line but I’m worried its a little too simple for what I want. I still love it though.

Craftynest

What an easy way to create attractive, dorm-friendly storage! The drawers could be stacked in any number of combinations and painted to match all of my stuff.

I just need to find some lonely drawers and paint.

Which is why I’m now a member of freecyle! ahaha YAY! I’m a little nervous about dealing with people over the internet and picking things up at houses. But, I have yet to hear horror stories related to freecycle. We’ll see!

A few changes:

•  living in Roanoke, VA for the summer
• working in the pro shop of a golf club! 
• no longer an underclassmen at Wake [weird]
• I have a car! – - and I’m taking nominations for names for him [a red '96 4runner]
• currently finishing Taylor’s quilt

A busy week, yeah? We still had loads of fun and she got to meet everyone here and experience the Wake Forest bubble. Her flight back home got cancelled so she had to stay the night in Greensboro and while I was having a mild heart attack and felt awful for her, she was beyond excited to have a king size bed and a hotel room to herself. Hah. That’s why I love her :]

So before I left for my exciting brothel hostel trip in Atlanta, I developed a little red spot on the backside of my forearm (imagine twisting your arm around to see the side that faces everyone).  Not knowing.. or caring what it was, I ignored it and figured it would go away. It slowly started to grow and took on the dreaded appearance of ringworm. I soon fell into deep denial about my body playing host to a nasty fungal infection and treated it every once in a while and forgot about it. Then, a few days later it was much bigger and definitely has the distinctive scaly nasty circle shape. So I took my cleverly named “Jock Itch Relief Cream” a little more seriously and attempted to drown out the fungus.

Then it spread. My nasty oval was spawning new nasty ovals everywhere. On my chest, lower back, stomach, even one near my arm pit! This is when I learned the limit of my shoulder flexibility and the holding capacity of a tube of anti-fungal cream. I couldn’t reach half of the spots and when I could reach them, I made sure to smother them.

Called mom. Good ‘ol nurse mom. She says to keep at it and that ringworm is just stubborn. So I do. It lasts about 2 more days and then I get fed up with it when my upper back suddenly looks like a pepperoni pizza. Then I trekked over to student health and met with the personality-less doctor who looked me up and down and said, “You don’t have ring worm. You have Palkdoskdnfs.” Well, at least that’s all I understood anyway.

Turns out it’s really called Pityriasis Rosea and it’s not contagious or fungal. They don’t know how you get it and there is no treament.  People are beginning to think it is viral for some reason or another but basically I’m going to stay spotted for 6-8 weeks. Yes, 6-8 weeks. With spots.

This kid seems to have enjoyed his infection a little more.

So I’m in Atlanta, obviously, and I’m here on a spring break service trip for an organization called cool girls inc. There are 9 of us wake girls here and we’ve already met some pretty interesting people. We’re headed out to the coke museum tomorrow, orientation at cool girls, and then dinner with the organization that set up this trip for us.

Atlanta is interesting. I’ve already almost witnessed a wreck, been in the gay area at 10 pm in time to see multiple drag queens, and been hit on by the African American thug working at China Breeze in the CNN center.

Oh, and the hostel is no longer brothel-y. That changed in ’89 ;]

ahahaha. so I guess it’s good I have such amazing friends. The picture is of Laura and Taylor. Notice the balloons. People were actually hiding underneath them. I don’t think Ellen and I have ever had that many people in our room at once. It was insane! So so so cool though. They made a cake too. Covered in sprinkles. But they put the icing on when it came right out of the oven so it turned into cake with something like chocolate pudding on the top. I love them all though :]

In other news! Had my interview for an officer position in ADPi last night. Apparently I have an affinity for the uncool jobs. No one else signed up for 2 out of the 3 jobs that I thought would be awesome.. which I guess is awesome for me. So I may potentially be the new/first EVER website manager for Wake Forest ADPi or Guard.. which like.. guards.. the stuff.. for us. I actually don’t even know what that position entails. I kind of imagine one of those stiff English royal guard men. Maybe even a cool fuzzy hat?

I volunteered at the daycare again yesterday. The kids are so darn cute it’s ridiculous. One boy in particular is super cute, super tiny, has a little potbelly and talks non-stop. Well, we were coloring and he wanted me to draw him a rainbow and then he added all of these blue lines that were supposed to be raindrops. The blue lines started swirling and curving all over the page and he started describing his raindrop family and how they all loved each other,  loved you, and how the rain hugs and kisses you . Then he said the most adorable thing with the most sincere look on his face, his big brown eyes wide as can be:

“Every raindrop is a hugging and kissing raindrop”

So naturally I typed it in my phone and he’s kept me smiling for the past 24 hours :]
